Carrera Glasses

Carrera glasses were born in 1956, in Linz Austria, the passion child of Wilhelm Anger. Inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, the most dangerous auto race in the world. Carrera glasses are known for their technical expertise and craftsmanship, which is required to survive in such harsh conditions.   Carrera eyeglasses come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. In 1964, Wilhelm Anger envisioned a material that is lighter and harder than typical materials used in eyeglasses. He patented it with the name, "Optyl", a heat-hardened plastic weighing less than other materials, and also with a reduction of allergic reactions. Optyl defines Carrera eyewear because of its improved fit stemming from a memory effect that provides permanent elasticity and dimensional stability.
